I must say, it’s kind of sad. Saturday will be my birthday, but that’s not the sad part. You see, Saturday will also be the first anniversary of my little old blog, and I won’t get to make a post then. I remember last year’s first post well; surprisingly my list of hobbies is still current, I still overuse parentheses (not that that’s a bad thing), and I still occasionally sign my name as “#m”. But, on the minute of my anniversary I plan to be deep into the AMV contests. I updated more back then though…
A few days ago I heard the song YMCA again, and it reminded me of my past. Back when I still lived in Minnesota and we would take weekend trips up to Fargo, all of the kids would sometimes go to the YMCA there. It was a long time ago, so the memories are a bit fuzzy, but I don’t think I ever really wanted to go - and now I think I know why. It was that song. All that talk about getting clean and having a good time… it gave me shivers. Echoes of YOUNG MAN! haunt me is my sleep, threatening to follow me into the real world and extinguish my short, pitiful life.
To this day, I’ve never set foot in one again.
For obvious reasons, I’ll be absent from my blog for the next few days until school starts. I’ve got my schedule mapped out in four colors and encased in transparency sleeves, and my binders (mostly) packed. I’m ready to get my 3 1/2 hours of sleep tonight before getting up at 1:30, and my manga is packed for the car ride. Otakon 2005, I’m ready.

Michael, you loved going to Busy Beaver Camp at the Y. Remember you and Amanda and Matthew and Katie all went together? Katie and I were just looking at a group picture from Busy Beaver Camp yesterday afternoon…the four of you all dressed up in the same light blue Busy Beaver T shirts in the front row. You loved it, and came back for more the next year.

Ah, Michael. You have spoiled my “Happy Birthday, Michael’s Blog!” post that I was going to write… I checked the archives, and I was ALL READY to post on Saturday and wish you/blog a happy birthday, but alas. My plans were spoilt. I promise, I won’t hold a grudge, but if Lee goes and looks his up I’ll have to kill him.
I only went to the YMCA once, and I cant remember why. Maybe it was to pick up Tyler? or Alex? And why are my best friends all boys?
